On Sunday, July 18, 2010 Travis Rilat and his crew member, Tyson Perez were involved in a non-racing related accident. Both Rilat and Perez suffered severe burns when a methanol barrel exploded. The two were transported to Harborview Hospital in Seattle. Perez lost his life on Tuesday, July 21, 2010 due to the injuries sustained during the explosion. Rilat is home and continuing therapy.
