Dear Steve King Foundation,
At the end of January, our racing family once again blessed us with a wonderful event that raised money in support of Josh, our family and his recovery. We have been so humbled through this entire experience and just want to find a way to showcase our gratitude for the kindness we have received. We have prayed a lot about as to how we can return our thanks and be able to give back to the racing charities that have helped us over the course of the last several months. Never did we think we would have the opportunity this quickly after Josh’s wreck which was just at the end of October, but God is good and He answered our prayers. When we received the phone call about the fundraiser that The Barn Raceway (an RC dirt track located near Waverly, OH) was putting on, it CLICKED this is our OPPORTUNITY to SHARE.

So during the fun-filled night of some RC dirt track racing with many of our local late model talents (including Josh who found this intriguing and a great outlet to channel his energy during his recovery – oh and by the way, just have to brag – HE WON), we presented the idea to fans, friends and family that the money raised that night was going to be used to give back to charities like yourself that have done so much for not only us, but so many other injured drivers/crewman. We shared how each of you have touched our lives and that is was our mission to give back to those charities that believe in our sport and protecting/healing our drivers. Thank you for all you do! Please know that the enclosed money does not end our quest to find ways to share your mission and to raise funds for racing charities that continue to do so much good. So although this money may be coming out of our checking account…please know it was the RACE FANS that collected this and made this possible (we do not wish to take credit for their generosity)! We have to also extend our gratitude to The Barn Raceway (Brian Phipps & his family – www.thebarnraceway.com) and the drivers who brought items for the auction.

Again, we are so humbled by the support we have and continue to receive…but as we told the crowd that night…being able to share this money with the racing charities…filled our hearts more than they will ever know or that we will ever be able to express. We cannot commend you enough for your commitment to the sport of racing GOD BLESS YOU…
Deepest appreciation…

Josh McGuire's Season Ends with Violent Flip at 201 Speedway
October 27, 2013

Josh McGuire and his #41 JMR team closed out the 2013 racing season on Saturday night, October 26 at 201 Speedway in Sitka, Kentucky. The 2nd Annual 'Halloween 50' was on tap at the thirty year old racing facility and a $5,000 winner's check was on the line. Josh started his evening by clicking off a New Track Record during the qualifying session, but that is when his night unfortunately took a turn for the worse. The Grayson, Kentucky ace was involved in a serious incident in his heat race, which resulted in his #41 JMR Chassis enduring a series of violent flips.

Following the accident, Josh was transported by ambulance to Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center in nearby Paintsville, Kentucky. He was diagnosed there with a fractured C-1 vertebrae and airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia for further evaluation. The neurosurgeon at St. Mary's opted to take a neck brace approach instead of surgery and Josh will be wearing a neck brace around the clock for the next three months.

"The neurosurgeon and all of the doctors that cared for Josh expressed how lucky he was that he didn't get injured more seriously," said wife Tracy McGuire. "They are optimistic that no surgery would be needed as long as Josh wears the neck brace properly 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All glory to God and thanks to all of the medical staff that were so wonderful and compassionate. Josh and myself have been humbled by so many of the thoughts and prayers from the racing community and we are forever grateful!
